Narene Ann Parker was born the daughter of Robert Clarence Powell and Bertha Rebecca Rader Powell on Oct. 1, 1923, in Williford, Ark., and died Dec. 27, 2007, in Salem, Ark., at the age of 84. She was united in marriage to Curtis Smith and to this union two children were born, Joann Smith Boler and Derrel Smith. She was later united in marriage on April 20, 1950, in Hardy, Ark., to Vershel Parker who preceded her in death Sept. 22, 2001.
Mrs. Parker was a beautician, retiring in 1963. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thayer for many years. She is survived by: one daughter, Linda Harper Dispenza of Mammoth Spring, Ark; eight grandchildren, Joe Michael Harper, Trevor Harper, Angela Lee, Patti Traw, Steve Smith, Gary Boler, Eric Boler, and Matthew Boler; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rheita Pratt of Williford and Reba Treat of Hardy; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Vershel Parker; one son, Derral Smith; one daughter, Joann Boler; one brother, Donald Powell; and one sister, Roberta Cross. Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Rev. Gerald Bounds officiating. Burial followed in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
