Nelson B. Lambert, 79, of Cherokee Village, formerly of Waverly and Decatur, Ill., died Aug. 20, 2003, in Waverly.
Born Aug. 1, 1924, in Waverly, he was the son of Frank A. and Vera E. Lohman Lambert. He married Joyce Ann Reynolds in 1965 in Jacksonville.
Lambert graduated from Waverly Township High School in 1942, and attended Lincoln Land Community College for a year. He was a U.S. Veteran of World War II. He was in the Army Reserves and the Illinois National Guard for 20 years. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in Waverly and Franklin. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a past worthy patron of Waverly Order of the Eastern Star. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ann; a daughter, Brenda (husband Ron) Reid of Waverly; a stepson, Bob Reynolds of Springfield; two sisters -- Verta G. King of Sun City, Ariz., and Bernadine Pocklington of Girad; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; two nephews and two nieces.
A son, Richard Reynolds, preceded him in death in 1978.
Remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
