Neven Leon Leitzke, of Salem, Ark., son of the late Edward Paul and Elsie Marie (Viergutz) Leitzke, was born April 20, 1919, in Norfolk, Neb. He died Jan. 12, 2007, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home at the age of 87.
He was united in marriage to Mattie Lillian Cole on July 8, 1960, at Artois, Calif. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Neven was a member of the Cherokee Village Peace Lutheran Church. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife Mattie Leitzke of Salem; a son, Donald Wright of Sidney; two daughters, Norma Jean Rimbey of Glencoe and Dorothy Reeves of Salem; a nephew, Robert Casbarro of Willis, Texas; a niece, Josephine Turk of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Francis Irene Jared; a sister, Erma Casbarro; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be announced by the family at a later date and will be held at the Peace Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Memorials are preferred to Cherokee Village Peace Lutheran Church.
