Opal M. Blizard, 83, of Cherokee Village died Aug. 6, 2004, at Ash Flat Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 23, 1921, in Dexter, Kan., she was the daughter of Wilbur Southard and Opal Hathorn Southard. She married Ralph A. Blizard April 14, 1962. She owned and operated a restaurant before retiring. The Blizards moved to Cherokee Village 32 years ago from Winfield, Kan. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 346, Extension Homemakers, Cherokee Village Women's Club and Cherokee Village United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Darrell Blizard of Atlanta; a stepson, Don Blizard of Cherokee Village; three daughters -- Wilma Jean Garrison of Wichita, Kan., Arthurita Courtney of Ponka City, Okla., and Ester Mayer of Chesapeake, Va.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Blizard of Winfield; a brother, Everette Southard of Carson City, Nev.; and 50 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Colton Vaden.
A memorial service will be Aug. 13 at 2 p.m. at Cherokee Villalge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Durham officiating.
