Opal Mae (Hunt) Young of Salem, daughter of the late Harry Nathaniel and Martha Louella (Funk) Hunt, was born Feb. 12, 1934, in Carthage, Mo.

She died Dec. 8, 2006, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 72.

Young was united in marriage to Ray Young on Dec. 17, 1956, in Platte County, Mo. She was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include a son, Michael Ray Young (Shannon) of Salem; a daughter, Ronda Gail Harlow (Michael) of Salem; two brothers, Jim Hunt (Dorothy) of Sanger, Calif., and Walter Hunt (Juanita) of Glencoe; five sisters, Wanda Dungan of Ash Flat; Edith Shore of Venice, Fla., Eva Walker of Marysville, Calif., Margaret Abrams of Kansas City, Mo., and Ruby Hutchenson of Kansas; five grandchildren, Sgt. Forrest G. Harlow, Cody Harlow, Brandon Corsaut (Carrie), Samantha Corsaut and Jesse Young; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Ray Oliver Hunt; and sister, Georgia Hightower.

The funeral services were held Dec. 12 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. Carl Neal officiating.

Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

Pallbearers were Chucky Young, Darren Young, Colin Young, Randy Young, Joe Young and Phillip Taylor.

Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
