Paul Franklin Morphis of Horseshoe Bend, son of the late Ottis Egbert Morphis and Lessie Leola Yancey Morphis, was born Nov. 12, 1933, in Searcy County, Ark. He died Dec. 4, 2005, at Southwestern Regional Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla., at the age of 72.
He was married to Helen Ruth Lambert on April 3, 1952, in Piggott, Ark. He was a general agent for Lincoln Life Insurance Company for 25 years, earning a CLU designation.
He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a deacon and treasurer of Ridgewood Church of Christ in Beaumont, Texas. At Salem Church of Christ in 1994 he, along with Harvey Starling, began missionary work in Romania.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Morphis, of the family home in Horseshoe Bend; his daughters, Margie Caspersen of Jacksonville, Fla., and Paula Morphis of Horseshoe Bend; his grandson, Paul D. Morphis of Conway; brothers, Edward Morphis of Mountain View, and Billy Bates Morphis of Longview, Texas; a sister, Elsie Anderson of Taylors, S.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a brother, John I. Morphis; a sister, LaVada Bond; and his father and mother.
Services were held Dec. 8 at the Salem Church of Christ. Burial followed at Blodgett Cemetery in Blodgett, Mo., with arrangements under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
