Peggy Jane Carman, 88, died Feb. 22, 2005, at the Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ash Flat.
Born Jan. 3, 1917, in Cresco, Iowa, she was the daughter of Bertrum Llewellyn and Lydia Carnelia Rowley Perry. She married Eldon Burr Carman June 19, 1935, in Cresco, Iowa, and to this union three sons were born.
She spent her working years as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Southern Baptist Church in Salem.
Survivors include three sons -- Norbert F. Carman of Austin, Minn., Arlin R. Carman of Mammoth Spring, and Robert G. Carman of Waterloo, Iowa; a brother, James Elwood Perry of Hesper, Iowa; four sisters -- Lydia Llewellyn Schultz of Pueblo, Colo., Leota May Boone of Plainview, Ill., Dawn Kathleen Sayre of Hesper, Iowa, and Bonnie Arline Judd of Chico, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers -- Alfred and Robert; and four sisters -- Caroline, Emma, Rosalind and Margaret.
A memorial service was Feb. 26 at Immanuel Southern Baptist Church in Salem with Alan Winberry officiating. Interment was in Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Memorials are preferred to the Immanuel Southern Baptist Church.
