Paul William Lagerstrom Sr., 71, of Cherokee Village, formerly of Galesburg, Ill., died Dec. 6, 2003, at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
Born May 27, 1932, in Galesburg, he was the son of Harry Carl and Jenny A. Johnson Lagerstrom.
He married Sally J. Sunderland Dec. 25, 1951, in Galesburg, Ill. He later married Rita M. Warmker Aug. 31, 1972, in Quincy, Ill.; she preceded him in death Nov. 4, 2003.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1951. He served in the United Sates Air Force as a jet mechanic for four years with Strategic Air Command from December 1951 to December 1955. He was a salesman for several different companies in the Galesburg area. He moved to Arkansas in 1989. He attended Nazarene and Lutheran churches in Galesburg. He was a member of the Central Masonic Lodge 71 AF&AM of Springfield, Ill., the ANSAR Templar Shrine in Springfield; and Spring River Shrine Club in Arkansas, affiliated with the Schimitar Shrine Club in Arkansas.
Survivors include a daughter, Luan (Terry) Swigert of Monmouth, Ill.; four grandchildren -- Amy Koester of Monmouth, Andrew and Rachel Swigert of Monmouth, and Rebecca Swigert of Athens, Ill.; a great-grandchild, Ballie Koester of Monmouth; a sister, Irene (Dale) Cotton of Sycamore, Ill.; a brother, Fred A. Lagerstrom of Peoria; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a son, Paul W. Lagerstrom Jr.
A memorial service was Dec. 13 at Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Ill. Miliary Rites were conducted by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 of Galesburg. The Rev. James Hazelwood officiated. Burial was in Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg.
