Betty Louise Phelps, 75, of Burbank, Calif., formerly of Salem, daughter of the late James Henry Meek and Walzie (Wood) Meek, was born on Nov. 13, 1930, in Lamar, Okla. She died Nov. 4, 2006, in Burbank, Calif.
She was united in marriage to the late Roy Floyd Phelps on Oct. 9, 1951, at Visalia, Calif. She was a homemaker for most of her life and was known to be an excellent cook. Before moving to California to live with her daughter in Aug. 2006, she was a member of the Missouri Avenue and Sixth Street Church of Chist in West Plains, Mo. She was a godly woman and loved the Lord.
Survivors are her daughter, Teresa Mackey, son-in-law, David, and three grandchildren, Kevin, Kaylee and Whitney all of Burbank, Calif. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Meek, of Corcoran, Calif., as well as many other relataives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four sister, Helen Brinlee, Maureen Strong, Dolly Cofer and Coleen Meek; and two brothers, Herman Meek and Harvey Meek.
The funeral services were held Nov. 11 at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. Gary Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Agnos Cemetery with arrangements by Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were Roy Coldiron, Roy Presley, David Mackey, Gary Martin, Willis Phelps and Rocky Kiern.
