Peter C. Summers, 76, of Bloomington, Ill., formerly of Wapella, Ill., died July 1, 2003, at Bromenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, Ill.
Born Jan. 28, 1927, in Wapella, he was the son of Edward and Nellie G. Craft Hamilton. He married Louise Cook Aug. 27, 1950, in Bloomington.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II . He worked as a self-employed carpenter in the area, retiring in 1986. He also farmed in the Normal area for a number of years.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Normal. He was also a member of the Rural Married Club, Twin City Sams and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 454. He enjoyed fishing and vacationing in Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Louise; a sister, Alice Jurgens of Wapella; a brother, Roy (Mary Dell) Summers of Quincy, Ind.; 55 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was July 3 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington with Ray Ferris officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington.
Arrangements were under the direction of East Lawn Funeral Home.
