William "Ray" Rawling, 73, of Ash Flat, formerly of Oscoda, Mich., died June 3, 2002, in Greenbush, Mich.
Born Jan. 27, 1929, in Detroit, he married the former Beverly J. Campbell July 16, 1948, in Royal Oak, Mich. He worked for Michigan Bell for 33 years and retired in 1979.
Since retiring, he spent much of his time working as a handyman. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cherokee Village and was a former member of Oscoda Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Beverly; six children -- Daniel Rawling of Portsmouth, N.H., Colleen (Leigh) Lehmann of Nashville, Tenn., William (Nanette) Rawling Jr., of Flippin, Beth (Michael) Pelham of Branson, Mo., Gay (John) McNeley of Brighton, Tenn., and Dawn (Dan) Hayes of Oscoda; two sisters -- Evelyn Ward and Carolyn Bronson of Greenbush; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marion Rawling.
The funeral was June 6 at Buresh Chapel with Ken Marsh officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Buresch-Bennett Funeral Homes of Oscoda.
