Robert Carl Gentille, age 79, of Horseshoe Bend died June 24, 2006, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
He was born on May 27, 1927, to Augustus Michael and Alma Pruitt Gentille in Champaign, Ill. He was a lifetime member of the Bradley VFW Post 6502 and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend.
Survivors include his very special friend June Huisinga of Horseshoe Bend; one son, Robert Gentille of Bourbonnais, Ill.; six daughters, Elizabeth Tucker of Mendota, Ill., Anita West of Pekin, Ill., Joanna Mitchell of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Mary Gilden of Oxford, Patricia Gentille of Bourbonnais, Ill., and Karen Miles of Lakeside, Calif.; one brother, Richard Gentille of Ontario, Canada; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Ann Gentille; one daughter, Jane Gentille; two brothers, Donald Gentille and Michael Gentille; one sister, Mary Ellen Barden; and a great-grandson Michael Gentille.
A memorial mass was held June 28 at St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend with Father Kevin Atunzu officiating. Burial followed at the Violet Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel of Horseshoe Bend.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association.
