Ruth Carol Maki, 76, of Cherokee Village died Nov. 1, 2005, at her residence.
She was born May 13, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Florence Latimer Johnson. She was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program and also for the local food pantry. She also volunteered as a transporter for her friends who needed help.
She was a member of Cherokee Village First Church of Christian Scientists.
Maki is survived by one son, Kenneth Cunny and Jennifer Grisso of Skokie, Ill.; two daughters, Ellen and Ben Northam of Cherokee Village and Joy Cunny of Hudson, Mich.; one brother, Charles Johnson of Bradenton, Fla.; four grandchildren -- James Cunny of McHenry, Ill., Daniel Cunny of Carpentersville, Ill., Rachel Black of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Jillian Cunny of Carpentersville, Ill.; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Cunny of McHenry, Ill., and Travis Murphy Cunny of Carpentersvillle, Ill.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
The family requests memorials be made to the Spring River Hospice or to the First Church of Christian Scientists in Cherokee Village.
