Ronald Emmert Arford, 75, of Horseshoe Bend died March 30, 2004.
Born March 8, 1929, in Colver, Pa., he was the son of Russell Charles and Cora Mae Donahue Arford.
He married Ramona Katherine Bigelow Feb. 26, 1949, at Bolivar, Pa., and to this union six children were born. He spent his working years as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a heavy maintenance operator in the steel industry.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sarasota, Fla., and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona Arford of Horseshoe Bend; two sons -- Emmett Arford and wife, Linda, of Ash Flat, and Russell Arford and wife, Nancy, of Mountain Home; four daughters -- Ramona Hales and husband, Ted, of Eureka, Calif., Joy McKenna and husband, Steven, of Cherokee Village, Tami Goodman and companion, Richard Odzie, of Ellenton, Fla., and Ronda Hauck and husband, Greg, of Bexar; two sisters -- Emma Kaufman and Roseann Hugel, both of Johnstown, Pa.; two sisters-in-law -- Harriet Howell and husband, Buck, of Bowdon, Ga., and Betty Arford of Clearfield, Pa.; two brothers-in-law -- John Bigelow and wife, Margie, of Derby, N.Y., and Charles Weymer of Elizabethtown, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers -- Russell, Alvin and Samuel.
A graveside funeral service was April 2 at Evening Shadows Cemetery in Horseshoe Bend with Paul White officiating. Interment was in Evening Shadows Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Memorials are preferred to the family.
