Louise Dorothy Rice, 79, of Williford, formerly of West Helena, died Jan. 27, 2002, at her home.
Born Dec. 7, 1922, in Rim Rock, Wash., she was the daughter of Glenn Edward and Evelyn Lillian Whitner Babbitt. She married Chester Dean Rice Dec. 24, 1943, in Medford, Ore. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1999. She was employed by Gibson's Depart-ment Store in West Helena, and was a member of the Ward Street Church of Christ in Hardy.
Survivors include three daughters -- Mary Garrison of Hardy, Billie Jean Ray of West Helena, and Sharon Frachiseur of Ruston, La.; a stepdaughter, Glyn Logue of Williford; two sons -- Edward Rice of Pine Bluff and Steven Rice of Houma, La.; a sister, Velma Kunkel of Randle, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Phyllis Ann Rice.
The funeral was Jan. 30 at Ward Street Church of Christ with the Rev. Tom O'Neal officiating. Burial followed in Baker Cemetery at Williford.
Pallbearers were Robert Ray Jr., Coley Rice, Tim Long, James Smith Sr., James Smith Jr. and Wilbert Burkes.
Arrangements were under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service Inc. of Hardy.
