Ruby Josephine (Curwick) Poteete, 71, of Horseshoe Bend died Oct. 10, 2006, at her residence. She was born Jan. 3, 1935, at Rossville, Kan., the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Bivins) Curwick. She worked as a cook during her working years at restaurants and was a member of the New Haven Baptist Church at Ash Flat.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Earl and Robin Poteete of Horseshoe Bend; one sister, Annie Taylor of Tillamook, Ore.; one grandchild, Patrick Poteete; and two great-grandchildren, Alicia Poteete and Dakota Poteete.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Dick Curwick; and one sister, Laverne Redding, who was cremated and will be placed with her for burial.

The funeral services were held Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel with Bro. Phil Huggins officiating. Burial followed at the Evening Shadows Memorial Park in Horseshoe Bend with arrangements under the direction of Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
