Ruth King, 88, of Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008.
She was born on May 11, 1919, in Rock Island, Ill., the daughter of Emerson Tucker and Fannie Thompson Tucker. On Feb. 20, 1937, she was married to Lester R. King.She was a homemaker, worked in sales and was a librarian at Mountain View Towers. She was a member of Gardner United Methodist Church, president of Gardner United Methodist Women, a member of Rolling Hills Home extension Club and a board member of Samaritan Ministries of Hot Springs.She was preceded in death by: her husband, Lester R. King; her parents; one brother, Robert Tucker; one daughter-in-law, Judy King; and one grandson, Randy King.She is survived by: five children, Ed King, and his wife, Debbie, of Hot Springs, Gayle Adams Carini, and her husband, Paul, of Fairport, N.Y., Mary Ann Castens, and her husband, Ron of Broken Arrow, Okla., Robert King of Salt Lake City, Utah, and John King, and his wife, Lisa, of Hot Springs; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a host of friends.Services were held at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Hot Springs with Marty Castens officiating.Interment followed in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home of Hot Springs.Pallbearers were: Keith Black, Terry Castens, Marty Castens, Jr., Chris King, Bart Adams and Court Palmer.Honorary pallbearers were: Seana Graves, Elsie Morgan and Arkansas Hospice.Memorials may be made to Samaritan Ministries of Hot Springs, 131 Sanford Street, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71903.
