Robert E. Luchene, 70, of Horseshoe Bend died Nov. 2, 2005, in Horseshoe Bend.
He was born Oct. 4, 1935, in Blue Island, Ill., the son of Paul and Agnes Luchene. While in high school he was hired by Geo. J. Rolland and Sons as a bookkeeper. He had remained as a purchasing agent and salesman with the company until his death.
Since coming to Horseshoe Bend, he served as president of the Pioneer Village Foundation and as a board member of the foundation. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Horseshoe Bend and of the Kiwanis Club in Horseshoe Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Jill, of the home; two sons, Robert Jr. and wife, Nora, of Wheeling, Ill., and Barry and wife, Brenda, of Moken, Ill.; one brother, Paul and wife, Beverly, of Clayton, N.C.; three sisters, Pat Johnson and husband, Johnny, of Tulsa, Okla., Betty Topp of Crestwood, Ill., and Donna Tryka and husband, Ken, of South Holland, Ill.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Nov. 7 at Grace Fellowship Church in Oak Forest, Ill., with burial in the Chapel Hill Gardens South in Oak Forest, Ill. Local arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
