Ronald Martin, 70, of Cabot, Ark., died Jan. 27, 2008, at his residence. He was born in Ash Flat, Ark., on Jan. 21, 1938, the son of the late Tom and Pressia (Howell) Martin.
He worked as a groundskeeper at the Cooper Community Cherokee Village North Golf Course, and he also helped to build streets in Cherokee Village. He was a member of the Cabot Church of Christ.He was the husband of Sharon Kay (Estes) Martin of Cabot who survives him. He is also survived by: a daughter, Janice Kay Brown and husband, Phillip, of Cabot; two grandchildren, Ryan and Peyton Brown of Cabot; two sisters, Wilene Peart of Wenatchee, Wash., and Jeanette Blue of Salem, Ark.; and three brothers, Jack Martin of Sonoma, Calif., Donald Martin of Ash Flat, Ark., and Edwin Ray Martin of Ash Flat, Ark.He was preceded in death by: his parents; three sisters, Marie Goetz, Thelma Sheppard and Hazel Sheppard; and two brothers, Troy Martin and Willard Martin.Funeral services were held at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel Jan. 30 with Bro. David Gibson officiating. Interment followed in the Saddle Cemetery at Saddle, Ark., with arrangements under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home of Salem.Pallbearers were Larry Humphries, Rodney Martin, Brian Martin, Jay Martin, Jimmy Coggins and Jeff Shepard.Honorary pallbearers were John Tucker, Ray Martin, Raymond Trent, Curtis Ellis, Lynn Twilley, Jim Cherry, Denny Gilbreath, L.C. Bettis, David Crane, Ralph Ball, David Thompson, Carl Curillas and Garland Branscum.
