Robert Louis Nicolai, 71, of Cherokee Village died April 25, 2003, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born Jan. 8, 1932, at Berkeley, Calif., was the son of Edwin Edward and Iris Edna Snodderly Nicolai. He was a retired printer and an U.S. Navy veteran.
He was a member of the Spring River Shrine Club and a member of Wilson 432 Free and Accepted Masons at Hardy. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Free Mason, past potentate of Aahmes Shrine Temple in Livermore, Calif., and worshipful master of Acalanes Lodge 723 in Lafayette, Calif., in 1996. He was a actively involved in many Masonic related organizations.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Olean Johnson Nicolai of the home; a son, Ed Nicolai of Cherokee Village; a daughter, Patty Nicolai of Walnut Creek, Calif.; his mother, Iris Nicolai of Orinda, Calif.; a brother, Bruce Nicolai of Orinda, Calif.; two grandsons -- Ryan Honnet and Rob Harter, both of California; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A graveside service with Masonic Rites was April 29 at Cave City Cemetery with David Johnson officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Honorary pallbearers were Tom Foley, Eugene Street, Rex Gaither, Howard Peterson, Dr. J.D. Allen and Jerry McCall.
