Shirley C. Carneal, 77, of Cave City died April 4, 2006, at his home. He was born March 25, 1929, at Durham, N.C., to Raymond B. and Bertha Mullen Carneal. He retired from the United States Navy where he served as an aviation machinist. He moved to Arkansas in 1977 and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Carneal of the home; one son, Robert Carneal of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Sharon Ray of Orlando, Fla., and Virginia Gehrmann of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Maxine Gerke of Orem, Utah, and Mildred Dunn of Bellingham, Wash.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Maurice Carneal; one sister, Colleen Walter; and one niece, Sandra Barnham.
Memorial services were held April 7 at the Carneal residence with Larry Smith officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
