Leon Webster Simpson, 88, of Poughkeepsie, died Feb. 7, 2002, at his home.
Born Nov. 16, 1913, at Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Carl E. and Rebecca Jane "Jenny" Howard Simpson. He was a farmer, retired from Gen. Corp., a member and past master and secretary of the Poughkeepsie Masonic Lodge, a charter member of the Poughkeepsie Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Ash Flat Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons -- James L. Simpson and William L. Simpson, both of Pough-keepsie; two brothers -- Howard Simpson of Poughkeepsie and W.C. Simpson of Missouri; two sisters -- Mattie Lee Bromley of Virginia and Allie Jean Walker of Dallas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Juanita Simpson; an infant daughter; two brothers -- Fred Simpson and Newton Simpson; and three sisters -- Ina Stutts, Lena Freeman and Violet Heath.
The funeral was Feb. 11 at Ash Flat Church of Christ with Keith Gregson officiating. Burial followed in Spotts Cemetery at Poughkeepsie.
Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
