Sara J. Lindemood, 85, a resident of Summervile of Port Orange, in Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Cherokee Village, died Dec. 2, 2003, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Born July 7, 1918, in Dayton, Ohio, she moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1997 from Cherokee Village. She was retired as director of special education for the Belton School District in Belton, Mo., and was a former director of hospice in Cherokee Village. She graduated with her master's degree in special education from Drury College in Springfield, Mo. She was a member of Port Orange Presbyterian Church, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution -- Sugar Mill Chapter, and National Society of Colonial Dames. She loved quilting and golfing.

Survivors include her sons -- Michael of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Jim of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was Dec. 7 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Port Orange, with the Rev. Joe Hood officiating the service.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Tr., Port Orange, FL 32129.
