Steven Jeff Montgomery

Steven Jeff Montgomery of Horseshoe Bend, son of Bonita Walker Montgomery and the late James Arthur Montgomery, was born July 24, 1960, in Salem.

He died Dec. 13, 2005, at Mountain Home, Ark., at the age of 45 years.

He was married to Lisa Sullivan on March 20, 1987, at Hardy.

He spent his working years as owner/operator of Market Street Pharmacy in Horseshoe Bend. He was president of the ICC School Board, past justice of the peace in Izard County, past administrator of the Fulton County Hospital, and past president of the Arkansas Pharmaceutical Student Association. He was also active in various other clubs and organizations.

Montgomery took great pride in Rachel's academics, Adam's sports and Hadley's roping.

He had a great love for all types of sports, guns and horses and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Montgomery of Horseshoe Bend; a son, Adam Dalton Montgomery of Horseshoe Bend; a daughter, Rachel Montgomery of Horseshoe Bend; his mother, Bonita Montgomery and Buddy of Viola; a brother, Donald Montgomery of Viola; a sister, Velisa DeShazo and husband, Eddie; a nephew, Hadley DeShazo of Horseshoe Bend; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.

The funeral service was held Dec. 16 at the ICC School with Bro. Jim Moore and Bro. Loye Vern Mason officiating. Burial was in the Viola Cemetery in Viola, with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

Pallbearers were Travis Raines, Mike McCollum, Dean Batterton, Kevin Scribner, Tommy Walker Jr., Scott Walker, Joe Hamby and Randy Love.

Honorary pallbearers were Blake Love, Brandon Love, Brock Love, Josh Hamby, Robert Stephens, Brian Gaskins, Ray Berry, Fred Walker, Dr. Carl Arnold, Stan Fowler, Dr. Louis Campos, David Harmon, Dr. Merle Grasse, Jake Acord, ICC School Board members, members of the OFBA Breeder's Association, Tommy Trett, Mike Sullivan and David Jennings.

Memorials are preferred to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, 800 Marshall Street, Little Rock, AR 72202.
