Stephen Stroud

Stephen Eugene Stroud, 48, of Hot Springs Village, died Jan. 27, 2003, in Little Rock.

Born March 28, 1954, in Batesville, he was the son of Arthur Ralph and Zelma Steele Stroud.

He graduated from University of Arkansas in 1977 and played for the Arkansas Razorbacks basketball team from 1972-1977 under Coach Eddie Sutton, winning the NCAA championship. After college, he played professional basketball in France and the Philippines, before moving to Hot Springs Village. He had worked for Cooper Communities since 1984 and was director of sales.

Survivors include his wife, Lee Ann Stroud; a son, Taylor Steele Stroud of the home; a brother, Art Stroud of Odessa, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law -- Joan and Bill Shaw of Quitman; and two nephews- Bart Shaw and Robert Shaw.

The funeral was Jan. 29 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thad Grimstead officiating.

Burial was Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville.

Pallbearers include Bill Shaw, Bart Shaw and Robert Shaw, Bobby Flippo, Bob Richards, Jim Black, Randy Brucker and Jim Edmonds.

Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Perry Rothrock and Taylor Rothrock.
