Talena Ann Armstead, 19, of Ash Flat died Dec. 7, 2002, in Ravenden in an automobile accident.
Born Aug. 6, 1983, in Salem, she was the daughter of Nelson and Julia Smith Armstead of Ash Flat. She was a member of Cherokee Village First Baptist Church, the 4-H Club, Hillbilly Horseshoe Association and the Tri-County Cattleman's Association. She graduated from Highland High School in 2001.
She attended the Ozarka College in Ash Flat and Melbourne and worked as a secretary for Dan and Nancy Orr in Ash Flat. She was also active in the Sharp County Fair and with the Fair Association.
Survivors include her parents; a brother, Brandon Eli Armstead of Ash Flat; grandparents -- Rogers and Anna Lee Smith of Highland and Leroy and Lou Nickle of Ash Flat; and great-grandparents, Boyd and Margarette Jackson of Ash Flat.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Barbara J. Smith and C.C. Grace.
The funeral was Dec. 9 at Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel in Highland with the Rev. Larry White officiating. Burial followed in the Old Ash Flat Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
