T.C. Ward, 83, of Salem died April 6, 2003, at Salem.
Born Dec. 5, 1919, at Franklin, he was the son of John Oliver and Zeffie Mae Williams Ward. He married Vera Lorea Caruthers Oct. 28, 1939, at Oxford.
Ward spent his working years as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a farmer. He also owned and operated a service station in Salem. He was a member of Wiseman Methodist Church, past master of Salem Masonic Lodge 418, Salem Gee and Haw Horse and Wagon Club and West Plains Wagon Club.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Ward of Salem; a son, Donald Ward and his wife, Joyce, of Salem; three daughters -- Barbara Jennings and her husband, David, of Ash Flat, Judy Oliver and her husband, Mickey, of Salem, and Lenisa Branscum and her husband, Gary, of Salem; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vince Ward; and two sisters -- Faye Cook and Carmen Acklin.
The funeral was April 9 at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Criss and Casey Oliver officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons -- Lanny Ward, Kyle Ward, Brett Jennings, Chris Jennings, Casey Oliver, Jason Oliver, Justin Branscum and Zach Bransum.
Honorary pallbearers were Junior Moody, Jerry Moody, Sonny Bray, Bill Whitaker, Jim Bozeman, Mike Moody, Steve Moody, Scott Moody, Johnny Moody, James Carroll, Bill Newton, Boyd Higginbotham, Cecil Welch, Alan Winberry and Rodney Barker.
Memorials preferred to the Fulton County Hospital for new chairs in south waiting room.
