Thelma D. Sykes, 81, of Cherokee Village died July 22, 2003, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System in Cherokee Village.
Born Jan.7, 1922, in Short Creek, W. Va., she was the daughter of Minnie Murray McLaughlin and Melvin McGlaughlin. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Cherokee Village.
Survivors include a son, Tom Sykes of Poultney, Vt.; a daughter, Janice Rabon of Ash Flat; a brother, Stanley McGlaughlin of Largo, Fla.; a niece, Judy Van Horn of Wellsburg, W. Va.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leslie Sykes, and her parents.
The funeral service was July 24 at First Baptist Church in Cherokee Village with Larry White officiating. Burial was in Bronaugh Cemetery at Hardy with arrangements under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Hardy.
