Viva Adean Smith, 83, of Saffell died Oct. 29, 2002, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born April 20, 1919, in Strawberry, she was the daughter of Obie and Gertha Horn Eagan. She married Lewis Smith in May 1934. He preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1987.
She was a homemaker, enjoyed childcare, sewing and shopping, and was a member of Mount Harmony Freewill Baptist Church in Saffell.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law -- Bobbie and Jack Neal of Cord, Barbara and James Dye of Hensley, and Linda and G.H. Doyle of Moline, Ill.; a brother, Vernon Eagan of Hammond, Ind.; two sisters -- Verna Allen and Mildrine Allen, both of Hammond; seven grandchildren -- Chuck Dye, Jackie Williams, Debbie Dutton, Regina Duke, Lisa Neal, Todd Neal and Derek Doyle; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Charles A. Smith, and a brother, O'Neal Eagan.
The funeral was Nov. 1 at Mount Harmony Freewill Baptist Church with Larry Pounds and Stanley Vandergriff officiating. Burial followed at Lancaster Cemetery in Strawberry.
Arrangements were under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Services Inc. in Walnut Ridge.
Pallbearers were Jack Neal, James Dye, G.H. Doyle, Todd Neal, Chuck Doyle, and Derek Doyle.
