Violet Margaret Altom, 66, of Pleasant Plains, Ark., died April 3, 2008, at her home. She was born Dec. 29, 1941, in White County, Ark., the daughter of Tom and Retha (Sample) Pate. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: one son, Ricky Dean Altom of Pleasant Plains; a daughter and son-in-law, Sonia and Randy Huckabee of Pleasant Plains; one sister, Nola McBride of Rosie; one brother, Alvie Ray Pate of Bald Knob; one grandson, Bradley Wayne Altom of Pleasant Plains; two granddaughters, Jessica Huckbee and Racheal Huckabee both of Floral; several cousins; nieces; and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Noel Dean Altom; and one brother, Olen Pate.Funeral services were held April 6 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church located at Southside with Bro. Kenneth Altom and Bro. Billy Wayne Scroggins officiating. Burial followed in the Cedar Grove Cemetery located at Floral with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Pallbearers were Greg McGlothlin, Bobby Tipton, Charles Thompson, Roy Milligan, Billy Wayne Scroggins and Hairl Anderson.Honorary pallbearer was Dr. Ron Bates.
