Vernell B. Rickert, 88, of Cherokee Village died Aug. 21, 2006, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Herman Sackhoff and Emma (Glaser) Sackhoff. She retired as a credit manager for Sears, Roebuck and Company.
She moved to Cherokee Village with her husband, George in June of 1981 from Oak Brook, Ill.
She was a member of the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church. She belonged to the United Methodist Women's Ruth Circle. She was also a member of the hospital auxiliary and the Cherokee Village Swim Club.
Rickert is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and William Schaffert of Cherokee Village; one son, George A. Rickert of Cherokee Village; one brother, Warren Sackhoff of Cherokee Village; six grandchildren, William Schaffert III, Daren Schaffert, Shawn Schaffert, Le'Ann Schaffert, Brent Rickert and Charles Rickert; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Erika; one brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Dorothy Rickert of Oak Forest, Ill.; one niece, Karen; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George J. Rickert; and one sister, Audrey.
The funeral services were held Aug. 25 at Cherokee Village United Methodist Church with Rev. Kay Burton officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Cherokee Village United Methodist Church.
