Viva Edealee (Gay) Simpson, 80, of Poughkeepsie died Oct. 19, 2006, at the Stone County Medical Center in Mountain View.
She was born July 18, 1926, at Poughkeepsie, the daughter of Xephon and Eula (Norris) Gay. She was a homemaker, a member of the Eastern Star and active in community activities.
She was a member of the Little Springs Missionary Baptist Church located at Poughkeepsie.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles E. Simpson of Little Rock and Ron and Carla Simpson of Mountain View; two grandsons, William Simpson and Seth Simpson, both of Mountain View; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Newton Simpson; and four brothers, Goebel Gay, D.A. Gay, Ransom E. Gay and Preston Gay.
The funeral services were held Oct. 22 at the Little Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie with Bro. W.E. Norris and Bro. Wayne Harper officiating. Burial followed in the Spotts Cemetery at Poughkeepsie with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Gay, Charles Stutts, James Simpson, Bill Simpson, Gaylon Simpson, Dean Parsley, Darrell Parsley and Kenneth Hash.
