William Hibbs, 85, of Cave City, Ark., died Sept. 11, 2007, at his home. He was born Oct. 4, 1921, at Mainster County, Mich., the son of William and Icadora (Wineland) Hibbs.
He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He was a retired factory worker and also did construction work.Survivors include: two sons, LeRoy Van Dusen of Argos, Ind., and Raymond Van Dusen of Wheatland, Colo; four daughters, Dorothy Poledna of Niles, Mich., Lillian Cotton of Cave City, Pamela Stice of Cave City and Sandra Norris of Batesville; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Lillian (Calhoun) Hibbs; one son, Larry Van Dusen; an infant daughter, Linda Hibbs; four brothers, Art Hibbs, Floyd Hibbs, Donald Hibbs and Harry Hibbs; and six sisters, Mage Pester, Creta Miller, Lily Metcalf, Dorothy Pettit, Carrie Hibbs and May Hibbs.A private graveside memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date in the Walkerton Cemetery located at Walkerton, Ind. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
