Willis Leonard Bunch, 85, of Newark died March 3, 2004, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born June 17, 1918, at Gurdon, Ark., he was the son of Johnny and Vena Pauline Measles Bunch. He was a retired Southern Baptist minister and school teacher. He taught at Mount Pleasant and Cave City, and was superintendent at Strawberry. He had been a minister at Caraway, Humphrey, Rehobeth at Moorefield, Eastside Southern Baptist Church in Cave City and Rosie Baptist Church. He was a member of Newark Southern Baptist Church were he taught the men's Sunday School class for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Bunch of the home; four sons -- W.L. Bunch Jr. of Trenton, S.C., Finis Bunch of Cord, Wayne Bunch of Newark, and Rick Bunch of Batesville; a daughter, Leona Hinkley of Lajunta, Colo.; two brothers -- Carl Bunch of Jonesboro, and Roy Bunch of Murphreesboro, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral was March 6 at Newark Southern Baptist Church with Jim Black officiating. Burial followed in Blue Springs Cemetery at Newark with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
