Walter Oneal Hayslip, 72, of Strawberry died Nov. 5, 2006, at his home.
He was born Feb. 18, 1934, near Batesville, the son of Joseph Henry and Ethel Reynolds Hyslip.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean War, was a retired truck driver, an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the East Side Southern Baptist Church in Cave City.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Hayslip of the home; one son, Oneal Hayslip of Star City; one daughter, Leanna James of Pisgah, Ala.; one sister, Ellene Vinson of Cave City; two grandsons, Joseph Hayslip and Jeremy Hayslip; three granddaughters, Samantha Gamble, Amanda James and Ashley James; three great-grandchildren; Jacob Walter Gamble, Savanna Gamble and Sarah Grace Gamble; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Brenda Ann Hayslip; two brothers, Henry Hayslip and Richard Hayslip; one sister, Mary Arnold; one infant brother; and one infant sister.
The funeral services were held Nov. 8 at the Roosevelt Missionary Baptist Church at Roosevelt with Bro. Paul Sowell and Bro. Gene Arnold officiating. Burial followed in the Roosevelt Cemetery on Highway 157 South of Pleasant Plains, with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Martin, Donnie Martin, Randy Polston, Denny Polston, Nathan Perry and Randy Richey.
Honorary pallbearers were Virgil Lynch and Rick Clem.
