Madge Lois Woodyard, 93, of Cave City died Nov. 22, 2001, at Woodlawn Nursing Home in Batesville.
Born Feb. 14, 1908, in Cave City, she was the daughter of William Edgar and Nancy Ellen Phillips Woodyard. She attended St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Granite City, Ill. where she received her registered nursing degree in 1938. In 1941 she attended a Boston hospital and received a diploma and pin for postgraduate work in obstetrics. She worked at Gray's Hospital and Craig's Hospital in Batesville and retired from North Arkansas Medical Clinic in Batesville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cave City.
Survivors include a nephew and his wife -- William Eugene and Nadine Woodyard of Batesville; a great niece, Deanna Gail Woodyard Harris of Batesville; and a great-nephew, John William Woodyard of Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers -- Neal Cyrus Woodyard, Eugene Gray Woodyard and Phillip Earl Woodyard.
A graveside service was Nov. 26 at Cave City Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Strang officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
