Willis S. Evins, 74, of Newport died April 4, 2003.
Born Oct. 18, 1928, he was the son of Elzie and Rosie Green Evins. He married Dora Bolden Nov. 3, 1948. He was a manager, having retired from Synergy, LP Oil Company in 1991. He was a member of Holden Avenue Church of Christ in Newport and enjoyed fishing, hunting and quilting.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Dora Bolden Evins of Newport; two sons -- Bob Evins and wife, Patricia, of Cherokee Village, and Phillip Evins and wife, Tammy, of Jonesboro; a daughter, Charlotte Parker and husband, Stephen, of Chickasha, Okla.; a brother, James Evins of Pennington; six grandchildren -- Aimee Galbraith, Chris Evins, Andrea Parker, Travis Parker, Taryn Evins, and Zachery Evins; and a great-grandchild, Alex Galbraith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Verlon Evins.
The funeral was at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home with Stephen Parker and Paul Evins officiating. Interment was in Carter Cemetery at Pennington.
Pallbearers were Maurice Odom, Mark Mcgee, Chris Evins, Russ Galbraith, Travis Parker and Olan Sullins.
Arrangements were under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.
