Robert Thurman Presley, age 98, of Alton, Mo., was born Feb. 11, 1910, near Thayer, Mo., and died May 5, 2008, at the Shady Oaks Healthcare Center, Thayer, Mo.
Robert graduated from Alton High School in 1924, after which he was a civil service employee working as a building inspector in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
He also spent many years farming, was a member of the Masons for 50 years and was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include: seven step-children, Nadine Crase, Annette Johnson, Cecil Grooms, Jarutha Mullins, Joe Grooms, Rebecca Meyer, Sanny McCallum, one sister-in-law, Dorothy Presley; seven nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Preceeding him in death were: his parents, John Samuel Presley and Olive Mae Huff Presley; two wives, Opal Lucy Copeland Presley and Mildred Greer Grooms Presley; two brothers, Sam Presley and Henry Presley; two sisters, Lois Presley and Dorothy Cline and one step-son, Bennie Grooms.
Funeral services were held on May 10 in the Clary Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Bro. James Doyle officiating. Interment followed in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, Mo.
