Charlie John Kinyon was born the son of Oscar Chrisman Kinyon and Chloe Chastain Kinyon on June 1, 1924, a Koshkonong, Mo., and died May 3, 2008, in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 83.
He graduated from the Koshkonong High School and later received his business degree from Arkansas State University.
He was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from his military service in 1964, as a technical sergeant.
He worked as a car salesman, an auctioneer and in real estate sales. He was a member of the Charles Burkett American Legion Post 344, DAV, Elks and the VFW.
He is survived by: one sister, Mary Hill of Thayer, Mo.; one brother, Henry Kinyon of Largo, Fla.; one niece, Rhonda Hill of Thayer; two nephews, Kerry Kinyon of Largo, Fla., and Michael Hill of Columbus, Ind.; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; one infant brother; one brother-in-law, James "Peck" Hill; and one sister-in-law, Nora Kinyon.
Graveside services were held May 8 at the Koshkonong Cemetery at Koshkonong, Mo., with Rev. Gerald Bounds officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
