John Cecil Morris, of Gepp, Ark., son of the late John W. Morris and Hattie May Smith Morris, was born April 2, 1918, in Vidette, Ark. He died May 15, 2008 at Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 90.
He was united in marriage to Maxine Hager on Aug. 22, 1939, at Vidette. He was a self-employed farmer all his life, drove a school bus for the Viola School Assembly for 12 years and was a clerk of C.R. Price Grocery Store in Bakersfield, Mo. He was a member of the County Line Baptist Church where he was baptized in 1960. He was a third degree Mason and a member of the County Line Masonic Lodge 373 with a 50-year pin.
Survivors include: his wife, Maxine, of Salem; his son, Cecil Morris and wife, Ethel of Gepp; granddaughter, Cecilia Lea Taylor and husband Billy; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Veneta Erlene and Levena Janet Morris; two sisters, Lela Reasons and Lena Guffey; and his father and mother.
Funeral services were held May 18 at the County Line Baptist Chuch with burial in County Line Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
