Genella Lou Thornton was born the daughter of Harrald O. Weaver and Lois Drake Weaver on Feb. 9, 1935, in Ash Flat, Ark., and died May 11, 2008, in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 73.
She was united in marriage to Donald Thornton who preceded her in death.
She was a cosmetologist working for many years as a hairdresser in Mammoth Spring.
She was a member of the Mammoth Spring church of Christ.
She is survived by: one son, Donnie Thornton and wife, Nikki of Thayer, Mo.; one granddaughter, Alesha Clark of Thayer; one sister, Sue Wooldridge and husband, Paul of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Jerri Weaver of West Plains, Mo.; two nieces Paula Cooper and Shannon Cameron; two nephews, Van Weaver Jr. and Marty Wooldridge; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Harrald and Lois Weaver; her husband, Donald Thornton; one brother, Van Doran Weaver; and one nephew, Kenny Weaver.
Funeral services were held May 13 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Lee Moses officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Mammoth Spring with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
Pallbearers were Van Weaver III, Van Weaver Jr., Houston Cooper, Kenny Weaver, David Cameron and Garrett Wooldridge.
