National Fishing Week nears

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has a strong commitment to America's youth, and is proud to celebrate National Fishing Week by sponsoring an unforgettable day of fishing fun for children on June 7 at the Jim Hinkle/Spring River State Fish Hatchery in Mammoth Spring. That is also free fishing weekend throughout the state -- no license or trout tags necessary.

Free Fishing Weekend begins at noon June 6 and runs until midnight June 8. Residents and non-residents may fish this weekend. Regulations for Arkansas waters apply: daily limits, slot limits and length limits must be observed.

The derby is open for youngsters 12 years old and younger from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The hatchery is located 2.5 miles south of Mammoth Spring at the end of State Highway 342.

The kids will be fishing in the Hatchery's stocked ponds for rainbow trout and may catch three trout.

Anglers must bring their own bait and tackle. Adult supervision is required.

Come on out and start the summer right with a day of family fun.

For more information contact the hatchery toll free at 877-625-7521.
