Richard Sandridge, 84, son of the late Grover Cleveland "Buck" Sand-ridge and Katie Brenner Sandridge, was born Nov. 18, 1919, in Oregon County, Mo., and died Dec. 14, 2003, in Thayer. He was married May 15, 1946, in Thayer, to Sylvia Lee Summers.

Survivors include four children -- Linda Sue Hensley and husband, Jim, of Sweeny, Texas, William Lee "Bill" Sandridge of Thayer, Pamela Ann "Pam" Sandridge Woodard and husband, Ronnie, of Sweeny, Texas and Debra Lynn "Deb" Sandridge of Thayer; two sisters -- Bertha Grooms and Nelma Blankenship of Couch; 12 grandchildren -- ReShaya Dawn Sandridge of Mammoth Spring, James Derek Hensley of Bay City, Texas, Roger Eric Hensley of Humble, Texas, Shawna Leigh Sand-ridge of Rolla, Mo., James Benjamin Woodard of Virginia Beach, Va., Keri Sue Hensley Fovargue of Humble, Shelia Marie Sandridge Bernard of Alba, Mo., Susan Kay Woodard Lieb of Lake Jackson, Texas, Melissa Ann Woodard of Sweeny, Richard Lee Woodard of Lubbock, Vanessa Gail Sandridge Harvey of West Plains, and Samantha Renea Sandridge of Thayer; 10 great-grandchildren -- James Taylor, Sydney Shay, Levi Austin, James Brett, Hayley Nicole, Alaina Marie, Noah Benjamin, Connor Bradley, Damon Trent and Lexus Maree and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sylvia Lee Sandridge; a son, John Richard Sandridge; a brother, George Roscoe Sandridge; and a sister, Louise Leu.

The funeral was Dec. 17 at Thayer Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Cody Freeman officiating. Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer. Military rites were by the Missouri Military Honors Program and the West Plains Honor Guard.

Pallbearers were Derek Hensley, Keith Lieb, Jim Hensley, Eric Hensley, Ronnie Woodard and Mark Crase.

Honorary pallbearers were Benjamin Woodard, Richard Lee Woodard and Bill Sandridge, Deacons of Thayer Free Will Baptist Church.
