THAYER -- Rosella Simpson, Thayer city clerk, has been awarded the designation of certified municipal clerk from the International Institute if Municipal Clerks for achieving its high educational experience and service requirements.
Simpson has been employed with the city of Thayer since July 1990 serving as deputy clerk before being appointed to her current position in October 1993.
She attained her designation as Certified Municipal Clerk through completion of the IIMC-approved Municipal Clerks Institute Program conducted by the Department of Political Science.
She said the program provides student/instructor contact in in-depth courses in managerial and leadership skills, social and interpersonal concerns and technical training needed to deal with changes taking place in government today.
Simpson has attended courses and seminars sponsored by the attorney general of Missouri, Missouri City Clerks and Finance Officers Association, University of Missouri and Ozarka College in Melbourne, Ark.
Simpson is active in many professional affiliations. She is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and the Missouri City Clerks and Finance Officers Association. She serves as president of the South Central Division of the Missouri City Clerks and Finance Officers Association.
She has been a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks since April 1998.
She joins 132 active municipal clerks from Missouri who currently hold the designation of certified municipal clerk.
