A Calico Rock man jumped into the White River Jan. 9 as he fled from authorities.
Gregory Dean Lynn, 31, escaped from his apartment behind Main Street when officers attempted to arrest him for parole revocation, said Izard County Deputy Mike Hall.
Hall said Lynn threatened officers, shouting that he would kill them if they tried to arrest him.
Officers discovered electrical wires in the home where Lynn had apparently tried to booby-trap the apartment, but the device was not effective, Hall said.
The suspect fled from the residence by climbing out a rear window. He then ran along railroad tracks by the river, Hall said. Reserve Deputy Leon Cheatham, Hall and Gabriel Sanders of the Arkansas Department of Correction, chased Lynn until he jumped into the river.
Lynn swam and climbed onto a rock in the river before he finally swam to the river bank.
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officers assisted in the suspect's apprehension by providing a boat to help capture Lynn.
AET Ambulance Service transported Lynn to Community Medical Center of Calico Rock where he was treated and then transferred to the Izard County jail.
He remains at the jail on a $25,000 bond.
