Larry Douglas Hensley, son of Lennie Pauline Prince Hensley and the late Cloyce Evert Hensley, was born Jan. 1, 1947, at McCrory, Ark.
He departed this life April 5, 2005, at his home in Salem, Ark. at the age of 58 years.
He was united in marriage to Janice Fay Ellison on March 9, 1974, in Salem and to this union three daughters were born.
He spent his working years as a heavy equipment operater for Stewart Brothers Construction for 10 years, and with Retech Environmental Specialist for seven years.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Thayer Freewill Baptist Church and the VFW Post 9777 of Salem, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Hensley of Salem; three daughters -- Rachel Delargy and husband, Robert, of Salem, Amy Abney and husband, Barry, of Agnos, and Melanie Galbraith and special friend, Jeremy Stone of Salem; his mother, Polly Hensley of Salem; two brothers -- Jerry Hensley of Pontoon Beach, Ill., and Rick Hensley of Coulterville, Ill.; four sisters -- Betty Ellison of Salem, Barbara Schoeber of Granite City, Ill., Helen MacTaggart of Salem, and Tanya Evans of Roxana, Ill.; five grandchildren -- Hunter and Jessica Delargy, Brooklyn and Halle Abney and River Douglas Galbraith; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester and Ruby Ellison; and two nephews -- Jimmy Flood and Larry Andrews.
The funeral service was held April 7 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, with Bro. Richard Robinson officiating.
Interment followed in Sturgeon Cemetery at Mammoth Spring with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Active and honorary pallbearers were nephews, Kenny Ellison, Evert Ellison, Brian Flood, Chris Hensley, Jeff Hensley, and Gary Owens Jr. and Alan Schoeber, Jason Crow, Curtis Hudson and Andy MacTaggart.
