Lindell "Red" R. West, 69, of Smithville, Ark., died April 9, 2005, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born Feb. 13, 1936, at Shelbyville, Ark., the son of Roland Howard and Hester Holland West.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant, owned and operated Red's Saw Shop and was a member of Hillcrest Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, Anita West of the home; one daughter, Tammy Ward of Fairview, N.C.; two stepsons -- Tony Butler of Memphis, and Tom Butler of Marsing, Idaho; three brothers -- Howard West, Johnny West and Terry West, all of Batesville; one sister, Mary Jo White of Riverside, Calif.; two granddaughters -- Clarissa Ward and Abigail Ward, both of Fairview, N.C.; two stepgrandsons -- Jeremy Frazier of Memphis, and Robby Butler of Batesville; two nephews; two nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service was held April 12 at Hillcrest Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Bro. Ron Skaggs officiating. Burial followed in the Mountain View Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Wayne Turner, Dr. Michael Wilson, Danny Walker, Scott Wooldridge, Bret VanWinkle and Jeremy Frazier.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City.
