E. D. "Gene" Winey, 82, of Ash Flat, Ark., died Aug. 12, 2004, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Medical Center at Cherokee Village.
Born July 5, 1922, at Preston, Iowa, he was the son of Lester Arthur and Olga Marie Reis Winey.
He was a cattle rancher for over 50 years, a crop duster, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II where he served as a fighter pilot.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Winey of the home; a son, Dale E. Winey of Ash Flat; two daughters -- Sandra Limer of Medina, Ohio; and Janet Himschoot of Ash Flat; five sisters -- Lucille Brown, Fern Thien, and Dorothy Parsons, all of Iowa, and Alice Buckelew and Lil Surdez, both of California; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lester Winey; two brothers -- Dale Winey and Richard Winey; and a sister, Ruth Rooney.
No funeral service is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Qualls Funeral Homes of Cave City, Ark.
