James William Roper, 60, of Viola, son of the late Jesse Orus Roper and Mary Angeline Dickerson Roper, was born Sept. 2, 1944, in Viola, Ark. He died Sept. 3, 2004, in Mountain Home.
He married Judy Gregory June 8, 1994, in Flippin. He was employed by Aeroquip Eaton in Mountain Home as a maintenance man until his retirement April 1, 2001, after 25 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of Flippin; a daughter, Cindy Erwin of Jonesboro; stepdaughters -- Jackie Tate of Flippin, Jolene Johnson of Mountain Home, and Jimmie Haynes of Charleston; two granddaughters -- Amanda Erwin and Lacee Roper; six stepgrandchildren -- Jacob Tate, Jenna Despain, Bobby and Kelsey Johnson and Tyler and Tanner Haynes.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
The funeral was Sept. 9 at Flora Baptist Church with burial in Flora Cemetery. Arrange-ments were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
