MAMMOTH SPRING -- The Mammoth Spring Bank, a branch of the Bank of Salem, has opened in Mammoth Spring.

The bank opened its doors Jan 26. It is managed by life-long Mammoth Spring resident Jim Mills. Mills is the son of Noel and Willa Faye Mills and is a 1981 graduate of Mammoth Spring High School.

Other employees of the bank include Sandra Linderman, a 1982 graduate of Mammoth Spring School. Linderman serves as loan officer, secretary and teller at the bank. Gloria Taylor has lived in the Mammoth Spring area since the 1960s and serves as head teller.

Other bank employees include Kelly Miller, a full time teller, and Kim Wood, a part-time teller.

The bank lobby is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The bank is closed on Saturday.

The bank offers a 24-hour ATM and the branch manager said it will offer an insurance agent three or four days a week.

"We are a full service bank. We can do anything here at the Mammoth Spring Bank that the Bank of Salem can do," Mills said.

The bank is located in the old Mammoth Spring Post Office at 465 West Main Street. It has been completely remodeled. Jesse Pierce Construction Company was the main contractors, and Riverbend Nursery is working on the landscaping.

Mills said an open house is planned for mid-February but a date has not yet been finalized.

The branch manager said the bank would offer a promotion in regards to their opening. He said anyone who brings in unused checks from another bank and opens a checking account will have their Mammoth Spring Bank checks provided free.

"All of us at the Mammoth Spring Bank are glad to be here. We look forward to serving the citizens of the city and the area," Mills said.
